The song reflects on a past relationship, with Mescal pondering the depth of her former partner’s investment. “It’s a song written about looking back on a relationship and wondering if the other person was just as invested or just killing time,” Nell explains.

The announcement of ‘Killing Time’ comes alongside exciting news: the release of her debut EP, Can I Miss It For A Minute?, set to come out later this year via LAB Records. It represents a significant milestone for Mescal, encapsulating her experiences of growing up, navigating friendships, and finding closure. “Each song tells a part of the same story with a beginning, middle, and an end,” she adds, offering a glimpse into the thematic depth of the upcoming project.
