‘Fort Knox’ marks a bold new chapter for Sigrid, turning heartbreak into euphoric defiance

Sigrid has announced her third album There’s Always More That I Could Say, out 24th October, and released new single ‘Fort Knox’, which premiered as BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record.

Written in Bergen with long-time collaborators, the album reflects a renewed creative freedom. After stepping back from “content culture” in 2024, Sigrid travelled solo through remote parts of Norway and returned to festival stages in South America, rediscovering her instinct for songwriting. That shift runs through ‘Fort Knox’, a track that turns heartbreak and anger into something euphoric. Built on pulsing synth bass and recorded largely in a handheld vocal take, it uses the metaphor of the U.S. military vault to describe emotional armour: “This time, I’m gonna lock my love in a box / And safeguard it like it’s Fort Knox.”

The single follows ‘Jellyfish’, a lighter, carefree moment Sigrid described as “easy, like a Scandinavian summer”. Both tracks showcase different sides of an album that spans infatuation, heartbreak and reflection, with her signature blend of piano-led songwriting, soaring vocals and bold pop choruses.

Recent live performances have underlined her continued draw. At Rock Werchter, more than 20,000 fans crammed under her tent, with thousands more unable to get in, while she headlined the Second Stage at Latitude and was personally invited by Ed Sheeran to perform at Oslo’s Ullevaal Stadium in front of 28,000 fans. A viral clip of the pair performing her breakout ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’ has already surpassed 4 million views.

Now 28, Sigrid is approaching love and loss with a more nuanced perspective. There’s Always More That I Could Say looks set to frame that maturity in the fearless, anthemic pop that first made her one of Norway’s biggest breakout stars.
