Stormzy, Fontaines D.C. and Beth Gibbons among the first wave of acts announced for Roskilde 2025

Roskilde Festival has announced its first wave of acts for next year, with Stormzy, Fontaines D.C., Arca and Beth Gibbons among the names already set to play at the Danish non-profit event.

Roskilde 2025

Roskilde is set for its 53rd edition next year, when it runs from 28 June to 5 July; it always boasts a star-studded lineup and next year will be no different already it seems.

UK rap titan Stormzy, BRIT Award-winning post-punks Fontaines D.C. and mercurial Venezuelan producer Arca are already among the names set to take to the festival’s stages.

They’re joined by the likes of former Black Midi frontman Geordie Greep, singer-songwriter Faye Webster, and Portishead singer Beth Gibbons (who’s now venturing out as a solo artist with aplomb).

Across eight days, Roskilde will host 130,000 participants, including 30,000 volunteers, and feature more than 170 music acts, as well as a vast lineup of interdisciplinary art and activism through installations, performances, workshops, and talks.

Roskilde holds a special place in the festival calendar; not only boasting an eclectic lineup, but doing things slightly differently by sharing all its proceeds to humanitarian and cultural activities that benefit youth.

Speaking of the announcement, Stormzy – who will be headlining the festival’s new and enhanced Orange Stage (which is set to be about twice its former size) – has said: “Excited to be headlining Roskilde next year. Playing in both 2016 and 2018 was incredible, but returning now as a headliner feels like a big milestone.

“Roskilde has a unique energy, and I’m looking forward to sharing this experience with everyone. It’s going to be something special!”

Roskilde Festivak’s CEO, meanwhile, Signe Lopdrup, has added: “At Roskilde Festival, we aim to lay the groundwork for a brighter future by inspiring hope and action for new generations. We combine big utopian visions with tangible, everyday solutions that point towards new paths.

“Art plays a crucial role as a catalyst for change, and in 2025, participants at Roskilde Festival will experience an engaging and progressive lineup across music, performances, art installations, and activism.”

Tickets are on sale now, and for the first time two-day tickets are also being introduced, allowing participants to choose any two of the festival’s final four days.

In our review of Roskilde Festival last year, whynow wrote: “While UK festivals aimed at the youngsters are notorious for burning down tents and getting shitfaced, the Roskilde experience is a breath of fresh air.

“The focus on charity, eating green and living sustainably makes every moment feel so much more wholesome and fulfilling. Don’t get it twisted – the Roskilde are a wild bunch that party around the clock – but the sense of community is evident.

“The festival constantly talks of the “orange feeling” it aims to create, and we can attest that there is certainly a golden glimmer of positivity in that Roskilde air.”
