You thought Agnetha, Björn, Benny, and Anni-Frid were the ultimate Swedish team. Think again. Swedish House Mafia and IKEA have shared details of the first products from their collaboration.
In truth, the project had been announced at the end of last year, but now we can see exactly what the productions are from the collection titled OBEGRÄNSAD (which translates to “unlimited”).
Explaining the reasoning behind the title, the House music hitmakers have explained it’s a range for those “with limited means but unlimited creativity,” and will include more than 20 furniture pieces, interior solutions, and accessories for aspiring producers, DJs, and creators.
Perhaps the most enticing item of them all is a record player, which works with the IKEA ENEBY speaker. This was presented along with a purpose-built desk for music production and an armchair at the IKEA Festival at the 2022 Milan Design Week today.

Explaining more about those marvellous items of furniture, the armchair, James Futcher, Creative Leader at IKEA of Sweden, described its connection to music as being “a place to unwind, reflect, and set oneself into the creative flow. The OBEGRÄNSAD armchair manifests the importance of comfort.”
Nothing has been released regarding pricing just yet, but given the mantra of the project being for those with “limited means”, you can imagine the items won’t be too pricey. Expect a lot more bucket hats on your trips to IKEA in the fall, as aspiring music producers flock to the shops when the collection is released in stores.
