Tim Burgess and co. have carved a venerable name for themselves with more than 30 years as a band under their belts. One of the few genuine longstanding forces in British indie-rock, The Charlatans have notched up 14 Top 40 studio albums, with three having reached the number one spot: 1990’s Some Friendly, 1995’s self-titled record, and 1997’s Tellin’ Stories. More recently, in 2021, the band released a career-spanning vinyl box collection, A Head Full Of Ideas, which of course included some of their recognisable classics, ‘The Only One I Know’ and ‘One to Another’. What’s more, Burgess has acquired a keen following on Twitter, boosted when he set up Tim’s Twitter Listening Party over lockdown – a simple affair where people would listen to the same album together, usually with a special guest. Over 700 of these makeshift events were held in the first year, at a time when the live circuit was all but cancelled. Now that things well and truly are back to normal, The Charlatans will be playing Y Not and Victorious Festivals alongside a co-headline show at Halifax Piece Hall with fellow Mancunion Johnny Marr, before hitting the road on their own major headline UK tour. Tickets go on sale at 10am this Friday, 9 June via Ticketmaster and Gigs and Tours. Fans can get access to pre-sale tickets from 10am this Wednesday, 7 June if they sign up to The Charlatans mailing list.
