Black Country duo Big Special are announcing their much-awaited debut album Postindustrial Hometown Blues, set to drop on May 10th via SO Recordings. Alongside the album announcement, the band have gifted fans with new single ‘Dust Off / Start Again’, promising a series of headline shows and festival appearances throughout the UK and Europe. Give the video a spin below.

Riding high from a sold-out UK tour and earning multiple nods from BBC 6 Music, Big Special are stepping into 2024 as one of the most buzzed-about acts. ‘Dust Off / Start Again’ showcases the lads at their peak – a mix of sharp spoken word, soulful vocals, and powerful guitars, painting a vivid picture of the societal and mental tolls of political missteps.

Lead vocalist Joe Hicklin says the new single’s “a charged outcry against the social and political disregard for the everyday struggles of the working class. It’s a commentary on the pressures to conform and the fight for rights and recognition in the face of adversity.”

According to Hicklin, the album doesn’t shy away from the dark or the enraged. Instead, it weaves a thread of love and hope through recognising shared struggles, advocating for unity and forward movement in the face of despair. “It’s about confronting the oppressive, laughing in its face, and finding strength in togetherness,” he adds.
