“After a nervous breakdown derailed Jocelyn’s (Lily-Rose Depp) last tour, she’s determined to claim her rightful status as the greatest and sexiest pop star in America. Her passions are reignited by Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye), a nightclub impresario with a sordid past. Will her romantic awakening take her to glorious new heights or the deepest and darkest depths of her soul?” reads the official synopsis for The Idol.

The cast is rounded out by Troye Sivan, Dan Levy, Eli Roth, Hari Nef, Rachel Sennott, Ramsey, Suzanna Son, and Hank Azaria.

The Idol made headlines recently after Rolling Stone published a deep dive investigation into the troubled production. The article highlighted the toxic and problematic nature of the production.

The Idol was recently announced as part of the programme at the Cannes Film Festival. Levinson’s hit series Euphoria has been critically acclaimed, and its main star Zendaya has won two Emmys and a Golden Globe for her role as the drug-addicted teenager Rue.

Sky has today announced that The Idol will stream on their service in June but hasn’t provided a specific air date yet.
