Wet Leg make their UK festival headline debut at Truck Festival 2024

Wet Leg made their UK festival headline debut at Truck Festival this weekend, lavishing the crowd with hits from their chart-topping self-titled debut and more special moments.

The Brit and Grammy Award-winning pair, consisting of Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, were playing to the 25,000-strong crowd at the Oxfordshire site.

It might seem somewhat surprising this marked their festival debut, given the meteoric success of their eponymous 2022 record, but the Truck fans were treated to them at top of the billing on the Saturday, among other headliners IDLES, Jamie T and The Streets throughout the weekend.

As well as fan favourites ‘Wet Dream’, ‘Angelica’ and of course the viral hit ‘Chaise Longue’, the band also indulged in a “brat summer” with a cover of Charli XCX’s ‘360’.

In our four-star review of Wet Leg upon its release, whynow wrote: “Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers were tasked with living up to the hype of their popular singles.

“With this debut, they’ve shown they have more than a leg to stand on – a slippery one at that – and in fact remain firmly planted amongst the next batch of great British bands.”

Their Truck headline set marked a fitting end to a day that was in-keeping with the festival’s raucous range of live acts, which included buzzy band Fat Dog, rabble-rousers Soft Play and post-punk outfit Yard Act, as well as the disco queen and ultimate crowd-pleaser Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Earlier in the day, Frank Turner had been revealed as the special guest in the small V&V stage, which was packed-out with people to hear his famous folk tunes.
