CMAT has announced her second album EURO-COUNTRY, due for release on 29th August. The news arrives alongside new single ‘Running/Planning’ and a packed live schedule, including Glastonbury, a string of UK headline shows, and support dates with Sam Fender.
‘Running/Planning’ continues CMAT’s sharp commentary wrapped in hyper-catchy pop-country, this time tackling societal pressures on women to follow a prescriptive life path.
“It’s about having to chase your own tail to be good enough to exist,” she says. “You start dating someone, you get engaged, you get married, you have kids… everything has to follow this linear pattern. And the minute you don’t follow that path, your mam starts giving out to you.”
She calls the result an “abstracted view” of that pressure, framed through the lens of a relationship and underscored by a chorus that loops like the expectations it critiques. “The minute you get outside of that [path], it gets incredibly stressful,” she adds. “And I don’t know anyone who is like, ‘Yeah, love this!’”
EURO-COUNTRY (pre-order here) will be CMAT’s follow-up to 2022 debut If My Wife New I’d Be Dead, which saw her build a devoted audience for her theatrical, deeply witty songwriting. This new phase sees her balancing humour and introspection with growing scale and confidence, as reflected in the run of shows confirmed for 2025.
Highlights include a Glastonbury slot, support sets for Sam Fender at London Stadium and St James’ Park, and her biggest headline dates to date: Brixton Academy in London and 3Arena in Dublin.
