Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap set for Broadway debut

The Mousetrap, the world’s longest running play, has been staged in the US before but never on Broadway. That’s now about to change.

The Mousetrap was featured prominently in See How They Run, Tom George’s wickedly fun whodunnit starring Sam Rockwell, Saoirse Ronan and David Oyelowo.

The film led to the play adaptation, which premiered in London on 25 November, 1952, a boost that has now paid off handsomely as The Mousetrap prepares to dazzle Broadway audiences.

The play is celebrating its 70th anniversary today with a special matinee performance which will include past cast members and others involved in the production over the years.

No details or a premiere date has been announced, but BBC reports that the cast will include some very big names.

Kevin McCollum, co-producer, said he was “thrilled” and “excited for the huge Christie fanbase in North America, and for the acting company in New York who will join the esteemed ranks of The Mousetrap alumni”.
