The outfit was titled Doja’s Inferno and reportedly took five hours to complete. It was the brainchild of Schiaparelli’s creative director Daniel Roseberry and the British make-up artist Dame Pat McGrath.

Each of the crystals was applied by hand, with the US singer adding a red silk bustier, a heavily beaded tulip skirt and a pair of matching red knee-high boots to the red body paint.

Doja Cat rose to fame with tracks ‘Say So’, ‘Streets’ and ‘Kiss Me More’; she is also a muse of West London rapper Central Cee.

McGrath praised Doja Cat’s “sublime patience”, describing the look as “a magical, mesmerising masterpiece of sparkling brilliance.” Speaking to Vogue, Mcgrath called the finished product “evocative of sublime sculptures; a true feast for the eyes”.

When Roseberry was announced as the new head of Schiaparelli in 2019, he became the first American to lead a French couture house. Schiaparelli was founded in 1927.
