The new show comes from Emmy Award-winning producers at Fulwell 73 Productions, who were also behind Adele: One Night Only and The GRAMMY Awards, among other illustrious music events.
The four episodes – titled ‘Love’, ‘Loss’, ‘Focus’ and ‘Balance’ – will chart Sheeran’s rise from a child with a stutter to becoming one of the most successful pop stars of all-time.
As well as documenting his success, both with his hits and on his sold-out stadium arena tours, the series will also reveal the challenging aspects of his life, including his wife Cherry Seaborn being diagnosed with a tumour whilst she was pregnant, and the death of his good friend Jamal Edwards, whose SB.TV channel helped launch Sheeran’s career.
The pop star recently announced the release of his forthcoming new album, ‘-’ (Subtract), set for release 5 May, saying such difficult periods informed the project.
Earlier this year, Sheeran released the track ‘F64’, in tribute to Edwards.

Speaking about the new project, Sheeran has said: “I’ve always been very guarded in my personal and private life; the only documentary I’ve ever made has been one that focused on my songwriting.”
“Disney approached me to make a four-part documentary, and it felt like the right time to open the door and let people in. I hope people enjoy it.”
Fulwell 73 partners Ben Turner and Ben Winston, meanwhile, added in a joint statement: “Everyone in the world knows and loves Ed Sheeran’s songs, as he has been the soundtrack to so many moments of our lives.”
“But this series of films shows the true man behind the hits, showing Ed in an entirely different way after a tumultuous year personally and professionally. This four-part series has been an honor for us to make.”
Ed Sheeran: The Sum Of It All premieres globally on 3 May, exclusively on Disney+.
