Sky has just dropped the very first teaser trailer for Michael Mann’s Ferrari ahead of the film’s world premiere at Venice Film Festival tomorrow (31 August).

Adam Driver, playing Enzo Ferrari himself, leads an impressive cast that includes Penélope Cruz, Patrick Dempsey, Shailene Woodley and Jack O’Connell.

Here’s the brief teaser trailer.

If the point of a teaser trailer is to tease, then consider us teased! The trailer plays without much dialogue, with only one line spoken towards the end. The trailer also juxtaposes thrilling driving scenes from Ferrari’s youth with a sombre, older Adam Driver as he fights to save his company and the Ferrari brand.

Here’s the official synopsis: “It is the summer of 1957. Behind the spectacle of Formula 1, ex-racer Enzo Ferrari is in crisis. Bankruptcy threatens the factory he and his wife, Laura built from nothing ten years earlier. Their volatile marriage has been battered by the loss of their son, Dino a year earlier. Ferrari struggles to acknowledge his son Piero with Lina Lardi. Meanwhile, his drivers’ passion to win pushes them to the edge as they launch into the treacherous 1,000-mile race across Italy, the Mille Miglia.”

Ferrari is Michael Mann’s first feature film in the director’s chair since 2015’s Blackhat. Mann is also currently working on Heat 2, a sequel to his most acclaimed film. It seems that Ferrari will announce Mann’s return to the big screen with a bang, and there’s already plenty of awards buzz for the film.

Ferrari will hit UK cinemas 26 December and will stream on Sky Cinema in 2024.
