The rapper, whose real name is Willie Junio Maxwell II, was arrested in Newark, New Jersey on Monday morning after the U.S. government obtained a video of him waving a gun during a FaceTime call with an anonymous man on 11 December, 2021. “Imma kill you and everybody you with,” Wap reportedly said on the call, whilst waving a gun. The incident happened two months after Wap was arrested in a federal drugs case. Wap had been out of jail on a $500,000 (£414,000) bond after he and five other men were arrested in October, accused of conspiring to distribute and possess controlled substances in a year-long between June 2019 and June 2020. They’re accused of trafficking more than 100 kilograms of cocaine and other illegal substances between Long Island and New Jersey. The FBI arrested Wap on 28 October in connection with the allegations. He subsequently pleaded not guilty. Wap’s latest gun-waving incident was a direct violation of both state law and the conditions of his release.
