Brie Larson was receiving a lot of online hate after starring in Captain Marvel as Carol Danvers, aka the titular Captain Marvel. Arguably the most powerful superhero in Marvel’s roster, she has made minor appearances in Avengers films and the post-credits scene to the final episode of Ms. Marvel

The first teaser trailer for Captain Marvel’s official sequel, The Marvels, has just landed online, giving us a slightly better understanding of how Carol, Ms. Marvel’s Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau are connected.

Have a look at the high-flying trailer below.

It seems that whenever one of our superheroes uses her powers, they get swapped with another, confirming that our dynamic trio is somehow linked in The Marvels. Pakistani-American teenager Kamala Khan ends up in space after Monica touches a very funky-looking jump point in space.

Carol, meanwhile, ends up in Kamala’s bedroom, as seen at the end of Ms. Marvel. As you might expect, this causes an awful lot of trouble for everyone involved, especially since Carol has made herself busy protecting a lot of planets with her incredible superpowers.

The sequel is directed by Candyman-director Nia DaCosta, who is making her debut in the MCU. To Marvel’s shame, DaCosta is only the fourth woman to helm an MCU film and the first Black woman to do so. The Marvels was initially supposed to be released in July 2023, but the release date was moved to November 10, 2023.

The film will bring back Teyonah Parris from WandaVision, in which she also played Monica Rambeau, the daughter of Carol’s best friend, Maria Rambeau. Iman Vellani also reprises her acclaimed role from Ms. Marvel

The Marvels hits UK cinemas on 10 November.
