Friko have shared new single ‘Choo Choo’, the latest preview of their forthcoming album Something Worth Waiting For, due 24th April 2026 via ATO Records.

Having introduced the record with a more restrained ballad, the Chicago four-piece pivot here toward velocity. ‘Choo Choo’ is built around movement, shifting tempos and sharp dynamic turns that mirror the band’s increasingly confident live presence.

On the surface, the track nods to what frontman Niko Kapetan calls “the magic of trains”. Beneath that playful image lies something more personal, a reflection on the shared momentum that binds the group together.

“I’ve always had a thing with the magic of trains, and when I was writing that song I started singing ‘choo choo’ and it made me laugh,” Kapetan explains. “It always feels good to play live, with all the slowdowns and speed-ups, but it’s also a very emotional homage to the band and how they feel like home to me.”

That duality defines the song. It accelerates and stalls, tightens and releases, capturing the push and pull of a band operating in sync. Guitars rattle and surge, rhythm sections pivot sharply, and the arrangement builds toward a breathless close.

Friko have steadily sharpened their identity since emerging from Chicago’s DIY circuit, combining restless indie textures with theatrical shifts in pace. Something Worth Waiting For appears poised to consolidate that evolution, with ‘Choo Choo’ acting as a statement of intent.

Something Worth Waiting For arrives on 24th April 2026. ‘Choo Choo’ is out now.
