Martin Scorsese has provided an introduction to the collection of poems by Olivia Harrison, which are being released on June 21.
Olivia Harrison has penned a book of poems, titled Came The Lightning, dedicated to her late husband and a member of The Beatles, George Harrison. Harrison died of lung cancer in 2001 and Olivia’s book marks 20 years since his passing.
Film director Martin Scorsese, who directed Living in a Material World, a documentary about George Harrison, has provided the intro to the book and said: “Olivia evokes the most fleeting gestures and instants, plucked from the flow of time and memory and felt through her choice of words and the overall rhythm.”
The collection is published by Genesis Publications and features 20 poems. Of the collection, Genesis Publications said: “Came the Lightening sees Olivia reflect upon her life with George, examining the intimacy of the emotional bond in their relationship through a memorable series of poems. She delves into the phenomenon of losing a partner and the passage of time.”
There is also said to be new, never-before-seen photos of the couple within the collection. For more information and to pre-order, click here.
