Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer | It’s time to face the music in new trailer

James Gunn concludes his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy this May with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Watch the new trailer here.

Before jumping ship completely to DC, James Gunn will bring us one final Guardians of the Galaxy film. In Vol.3, the gang will battle against High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji), who seeks to create the perfect society. Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) will presumably also cause trouble for the Guardians.

The High Evolutionary seems to be the man who turned Rocket from a sweet, innocent baby raccoon to a gun-loving trash panda. Judging from the trailer, the film will finally really delve into Rocket’s backstory, and we’re not entirely convinced our favourite raccoon will make it out alive.

Check out the trailer below.

Although the tone is a little lighter and a little funnier than the first trailer’s, we still feel Gunn’s trilogy closer will make us sob in the cinema.

Marvel’s official synopsis also implies this won’t be a completely happy ending to the Guardians trilogy: “In Marvel Studios “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Still reeling from the loss of Gamora, Peter Quill must rally his team around him to defend the universe and protect one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.”

That being said, Gunn’s signature humour is all over the trailer. Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill is reunited with Gamora (Zoe Saldaña), who isn’t the Gamora he fell in love with (it all makes sense, I promise). This Gamora is from a whole different timeline, and Quill describes her as a “dick” only to admire the blackness of Nebula’s eyes. Hey, crazier things have happened in the MCU!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is in cinemas on 5 May.
