The release of the raw, grunge-laden track marks a powerful opening statement from the band, following months of build-up for their first official release.
Led by brothers Finn (vocals, guitar) and Conor Keogh (bass), and completed by drummer Oli Spackman and guitarist Jimmy Lanwern, the band had garnered an impressive degree of hype, aided by their support slot at Kings of Leon’s BST Hyde Park show and their EU tour supporting Nieve Ella.
Have a listen to ‘I Lied, Amber’ below for a glimpse of what Keo are made of – and listen out for their influences, ranging from Radiohead to Jeff Buckley with a dash of Wunderhorse.
On the eve of the track’s release, which arrives via AWAL, the band headlined a sold-out show at Hackney’s Oslo venue, supported by Tooth.
Describing their debut single, the band have explained: “It’s about pretending to trust somebody and lying to yourself that you do.
“Letting your past relationships negatively dictate your future ones but ultimately surrendering to the person with the knowledge that they have your heart in the palm of their hand.”
Indeed, the track marks just the start of an undoubtedly exciting year ahead, which next proceeds with Keo hitting the road in support of Birmingham band Overpass.
