Several women, including Evan Rachel Wood, Esmé Bianco and Ashley Morgan Smithline, as well as Manson’s former assistant Ashley Walters, have previously come forward and accused the metal musician of sexually abusing them.
Now, a new lawsuit by an anonymous woman claims the rocker assaulted and groomed her throughout the 1990s. While most of the accusations against Manson have focused on time periods later in his career, this is the first lawsuit to focus on the early days of his career.
The lawsuit, which was reported via Rolling Stone, also accuses Manson’s record labels, Interscope and Trent Reznor’s Nothing Records, of “negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress, among other charges”.
The lawsuit claims the plaintiff was 16 when she met Manson, who invited her to his tour bus after a concert in 1995. “While on the tour bus, Defendant Warner performed various acts of criminal sexual conduct upon Plaintiff, who was a virgin at the time, including but not limited to forced copulation and vaginal penetration,” the lawsuit claims.
“Plaintiff was in pain, scared, upset, humiliated and confused. After he was done, Defendant Warner laughed at her… Then Defendant Warner demanded Plaintiff to ‘get the fuck off of my bus’ and threatened Plaintiff that, if she told anyone, he would kill her and her family.”
The lawsuit also chronicles Manson’s continued abuse of the plaintiff throughout the 90s and notes that Manson’s record labels “were well-aware of Defendant Warner’s obsession with sexual violence and childhood sexual assault.”
“At no time did Defendant Interscope and Defendant Nothing Records have a reasonable system or procedure in place to investigate, supervise, or monitor its staff and/or agents, including Defendant Warner, to prevent pre-sexual grooming and sexual harassment, molestation, and assault of fans, including minors and women,” the lawsuit states.
The plaintiff is also suing for intentional infliction of emotional distress, citing Manson’s “hostile and verbally abusive behaviour” as a part of his “emotional manipulation”.
While Bianco’s suit was settled out of court, Walters’ suit was dismissed for statute of limitations and Smithline’s was dismissed after she missed a key deadline, Manson is still facing lawsuit from another Jane Doe who alleges that Manson raped her in 2011.
Manson has not commented on the new lawsuit.
