Nottingham’s Divorce drop new single ‘My Room’ and sell out residency

Indie band Divorce debuts 'My Room', with an emotional ode to unconditional love, as they prepare for a headline UK tour this October.

Divorce band My Room

Indie-rock band Divorce have released their new single ‘My Room’, the second track from the Nottingham quartet this year. Following their March single ‘Gears’, ‘My Room’ reunites the band with producer Catherine Marks, known for her work with Boygenius, Foals, and Wolf Alice.

The band has also announced a headline UK tour in October, beginning with a sold-out four-night residency at Nottingham’s Bodega and culminating in their largest headline show to date at London’s Islington Assembly Hall.

Divorce has been making waves as they head into 2024, drawing international media support and becoming regulars on the BBC 6 Music playlist. This year, they have supported Bombay Bicycle Club, The Vaccines, and Everything Everything, all while promoting their acclaimed 2023 Heady Metal EP. The EP, praised for its portrait of insecurity and personal growth, saw a limited-edition Record Store Day vinyl repress sell out quickly.

With ‘My Room’, Divorce continues to showcase their grand, adventurous ambitions. Vocalist and bassist Tiger Cohen-Towell describes the track as “an ode to unconditional love,” adding, “These lyrics are truly some of the most emotionally vulnerable I think I’ve written to date; it speaks of a deep desire to be relaxed about showing affection toward someone that you know extremely well. I think familiarity can be scary at times, and being truly seen can make you throw walls up between yourself and the people you want to be closest to.”

The track features children’s voices on the last chorus, which Cohen-Towell says adds “both naïveté and heaviness to the track,” summarising the feeling of the song as reminiscent of being back in your childhood bedroom.
