Australian rock outfit Ocean Alley have confirmed details of their fifth studio album, Love Balloon, set for release on 19th September.

The announcement coincides with the release of the album’s title track, a buoyant single that introduces a new sonic direction for the band.

Produced by Nick DiDia, known for his work with Bruce Springsteen and Rage Against The Machine, the album marks a shift towards a more stripped-back and emotionally resonant sound.

The lead single, ‘Love Balloon’, showcases this evolution with its disco-inflected groove and Nile Rodgers-inspired guitar riffs, offering a playful yet confident glimpse into the band’s creative trajectory.

“Love Balloon stands out as the song that best encapsulates the direction we were heading with the whole record,” the band noted. “Even though it was recorded toward the end of the process, by that point we were really finding our groove; dialling into the sounds we wanted to use and feeling fully comfortable with Nick.”

The single’s development wasn’t without challenges. “We sat in a room together for two days getting so frustrated because we knew there was something good in there; we just couldn’t make it click,” they recalled. A breakthrough came when they restructured the song, leading to the final version that will feature on the album.

In support of Love Balloon, Ocean Alley will embark on an extensive international tour throughout 2025, including their largest UK headline show to date at London’s Alexandra Palace on September 27. This performance will be their only UK headline show of the year.
