Manchester’s Phoebe Green has released new single ‘Clothes Still On’, taken from her new album, Premature Nostalgia, out October 2nd via The Green Dream Machine / Absolute.
The track follows earlier singles ‘There’s Always Someone Kicking the Seat’ and ‘Polluting You with Me’, and Green has called it her favourite on the record, describing verses that lean into 00s emo and Alex G, choruses that nod to Brockhampton, and synth work throughout from her sister and co-writer, Lucy.
Written and produced alongside Lucy Green, who records as Elucyve, Premature Nostalgia was made between the sisters’ shared flat in Manchester and their parents’ home in Lytham St Annes, drawing on artists including Imogen Heap, Oklou, Jockstrap, James Blake, FKA twigs and Sega Bodega. Phoebe has described the album as exploring “the feeling of missing a moment before it’s over,” built from field recordings and metallic textures pulled from Manchester’s industrial landscape and club culture, and featuring a collaboration with Picture Parlour’s Katherine Parlour.
The album is a darker, more enigmatic follow-up to 2025 EP The Container and Green’s acclaimed 2022 debut album, Lucky Me, which Dork called “one of the very best debut albums you’ll hear all year” and NME praised as “a thrilling pop debut that deserves to be heard.” Since then, Green’s music has featured on Killing Eve, Extraordinary, Waterloo Road, Geek Girls and 2026 film Finding Emily, alongside collaborations with Swim Deep, The Big Moon, Holiday87 and Scout, and a feature on ARXX’s ‘Baby Uh Huh’.
Green will play Night & Day in Manchester on September 22nd and headline Rough Trade East in London on October 6th.
