Manchester’s Phoebe Green is back with ‘Rage of a Kid’, the first taste of her highly anticipated EP The Container, set for release on 21st March.
As one of the UK’s brightest alt-pop stars, this latest offering isn’t just another single; it’s a powerful declaration of emotional growth, musical evolution, and a big step forward for Green as an artist.
Anger, as Green puts it, is necessary and healthy, especially when it comes to processing trauma. “Anger towards injustice is vital,” she says, and ‘Rage of a Kid’ offers a refreshing reminder that feeling emotions, no matter how intense, is part of the healing process.
The new single follows the release of two other tracks from the upcoming EP, ‘What Are You Doing’ and ‘Precious Things’, both of which have already gained traction on BBC 6 Music and earned praise from tastemakers like The Line of Best Fit, Dork Magazine, and DIY Magazine.
If you haven’t yet caught the magic, now’s the time, ‘Rage of a Kid’ is out now, and it’s a must-listen.
Phoebe Green has always been upfront about her emotions in her music. But with The Container, she’s peeling back even more layers.
“The reason I titled the EP ‘The Container’ is due to the physical feeling of trying to contain or suppress something,” Green explains. “The longer I kept them in the more they ate away at me.”
In this EP, Green dives into the complexities of self-love, obsession, and the delicate balance between holding on and letting go, themes that speak to anyone who’s ever wrestled with their own emotional baggage.
Green also admits that her influences for this new project were a little unexpected. “I’ve really tried to marry the sounds with the lyrics,” she says, citing artists like Imogen Heap, St Vincent, and Charli XCX. “I think I’ve subconsciously shied away from writing big pop choruses in the past, but I really loved experimenting with this on this new EP.”
It’s clear that Green is ready to embrace the big choruses and anthemic moments, while still keeping the vulnerability at the core of everything she does.
And it’s paying off. The Container EP features an eclectic mix of intimate ballads and stadium-sized bangers, with the opening track ‘Rage of a Kid’ setting the tone for what’s to come. The EP also includes tracks like ‘I Could Try to Change’ and ‘IV’, with Green’s distinctive voice soaring over glitchy, atmospheric production. For fans who’ve been with her from the start, The Container is set to be a defining moment in her career.
Catch Phoebe Green live in April on her headline tour, which will include stops in Leeds, Bristol, Manchester, Brighton, and London. Don’t miss your chance to see this rising star in action. Tickets are on sale now.
