Quentin Tarantino has revealed the title for his tenth and final film

Quentin Tarantino has revealed work has begun on his final film, titled The Movie Critic and apparently has a female protagonist.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Tarantino has finished writing the script and is planning to shoot his tenth film as a director later this year.

Titled The Movie Critic, the film is described as set in the summertime in the 1970s and it has a female lead. Some have speculated, purely on the name and setting, that the film could refer to film critic Pauline Kael. Kael was known for her brutally honest and brash reviews she wrote during her stint at The New Yorker between 1968 and 1991.

Kael also worked as a consultant for Paramount in the 70s and Tarantino is known to have been a fan of her writing. Kael passed away in 2001.

The Movie Critic will likely be Tarantino’s last film. The cult director has long claimed that he plans to retire after making ten films. So far, Tarantino has made nine if you count Kill Bill Volume I and Volume II as one.

The cult director also recently released a book and has said he will never direct a Marvel film.

Tarantino is turning 60 later this month. His first film was 1992’s Reservoir Dogs, starring Harvey Keitel and Tim Roth. His latest, 2019’s Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood was released in 2019 and starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.

The film is also notable as it starred recent Oscar-nominee Austin Butler in his biggest role before Elvis. Butler’s character memorably was attacked in the nether-region by Brandy the Dog.

Almost all of Tarantino’s films have been critically acclaimed, but the opinionated director hasn’t completely escaped controversy either. His use of the n-word in his films has drawn criticism as has his defence of director Roman Polanski who has been accused of rape. Tarantino has apologised for his comments on Polanski.
