The full BFI London Film Festival line-up will be announced tomorrow but we already know the festival will get off to a glamorous start, thanks to the opening night film.

Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn will grace the big screen at the Royal Festival Hall and we now have our very first trailer for it.

Take a look at the Saltburn trailer below.

We didn’t know what to expect from Saltburn, which has been shrouded in mystery ever since it was announced, but it looks ace. There’s a mysterious, haunting quality to the trailer in which Barry Keoghan’s Oliver arrives at Felix’s (Jacob Elordi) lavish estate, the titular Saltburn.

If Promising Young Woman was all about womanhood, Saltburn seems to be a film about masculinity. Oliver seems to go through a whole bunch of emotions in the trailer as he spies Felix having sex and tries to fit in with his rich and powerful family.

Here’s the official synopsis for good measure: “Academy Award winning filmmaker Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman) brings us a wicked tale of privilege and desire. Struggling to find his place at Oxford University, student Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) finds himself drawn into the world of the charming and aristocratic Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi), who invites him to Saltburn, his eccentric family’s sprawling estate, for a summer never to be forgotten.”

The handsome cast is rounded out by Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Alison Oliver, Archie Madekwe, and Carey Mulligan. Barbie star Margot Robbie is producing the film as well.

Saltburn will open the BFI London Film Festival on 4 October, with simultaneous screenings taking place all over the country.

After touring the festival circuit, Saltburn will arrive in UK cinemas 17 November.
