Fans of Spiritualized, it’s time to clear your March calendar. The legendary space-rock outfit has just announced a special UK tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their second album, Pure Phase. And for the first time ever, the band will perform the entire album live, promising to take listeners back to one of their most experimental phases.
The tour will hit Glasgow, Manchester, London, and Bristol in March 2025, with tickets going on sale this Friday, 4th October.
A favourite among records
For frontman J. Spaceman (aka Jason Pierce), Pure Phase holds a special place in his heart. He’s quick to admit, “I think it’s quite extraordinary and I’d probably say it’s my favourite of the records I’ve made. The construction of it satisfied something in me that likes breaking the rules… Each side of the stereo contains a completely separate mix.”
For those unfamiliar, this stereo mix is part of what makes Pure Phase such a stand-out. It’s a record that exists in its own sonic space, not sounding quite like anything else out there, even three decades later. Pierce continues, “I checked the masters back and it still sounds like this extraordinary thing. It exists in its own space, it doesn’t sound like anybody else.”
A glimpse of the setlist
The album features fan favourites like ‘Let It Flow’ and ‘Electric Mainline’, and each of these 14 tracks is set to take on new life in the live performances. Expect a blend of intricate soundscapes and pure, raw energy from Pierce and co.
