The outage appears to have begun about 30 minutes before the presale for Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’ went live at 10am EST.

A message on the Ticketmaster App said “We apologise for the interruption”, adding that the site was “currently experiencing technical difficulties and our team is working to resolve this as soon as possible.”

On their website, Ticketmaster said: “Something went wrong on our end and we need to start over. Broken things are a drag — our team is on it so it doesn’t happen again.”

The star’s new tour will be wildly popular, with her new album Midnights already becoming the fastest selling album of the year. It sold 1.58 million copies in its first week.

That was followed up by Swift completing the remarkable feat of becoming the first artist to occupy the entire Top 10 of Billboard Hot 100.

In total, Midnights has broken 73 chart records since its release.
