Imelda Staunton takes over from Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II in the new trailer for The Crown season 5. We’ve arrived at the groovy, grungy 90s, and Elizabeth is struggling with big and small crises at home and abroad.
Diana and Charles’, played by Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West, marriage has truly hit rock bottom, and Charles is begging Elizabeth to be allowed to divorce Diana.
Meanwhile, the collapse of the Soviet Union sets its own set of challenges for Elizabeth’s reign.

When is The Crown season 5 out? Who’s in the cast?
Season 5 of The Crown will be available to stream on Netflix November 9 as part of your regular subscription. The series stars Jonathan Pryce, Lesley Manville and Jonny Lee Miller alongside Staunton, West and Debicki.
Dame Judi Dench recently criticised Netflix for not including disclaimers before the episodes to clarify that The Crown is a work of fiction. She accused the show of “crude sensationalism”.
Netflix has recently been struggling with their viewership numbers and as many look at cutting costs by axing streaming services, we’ll see if The Crown still has enough pull to bring in the cash for the streaming service.
