The highly-anticipated second season of the acclaimed dramedy is set to premiere this summer. Watch the first trailer for The Bear season 2.

the bear season 2

Do you want the good news or the bad news first? Let’s get the bad news out of the way first.

UK viewers will have to wait nearly a month longer than our US friends to watch the second season of The Bear. But on the bright side, to ease your pain, we have a trailer to tie us over until July.

Have a look, my fellow amateur chefs.

The Bear became a global phenomenon last year when it premiered last year. The fast-paced comedy-drama perfectly captured working in kitchens and the mindset of a chef.

Of course, UK viewers had to wait months to watch it but The Bear finally debuted on Disney+ in October. The first season was a major success and star Jeremy Allen White picked up a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award and a Critics Choice award for his performance as manic, hot-headed chef Carmy.

As we head towards the second season, Carmy is gearing up to re-open his brother’s old sandwich shop as a restaurant called The Bear, following his discovery of some much-needed cash in a tin of tomatoes. Of course, Carmy was the one who set the old place on fire, but we’ll let bygones to be bygones, although Carmy is still looking a little overwhelmed in the trailer.

The second season will see Carmy and Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), along with Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) work out a new, inventive menu for their new joint and some of the staff get sent to culinary school.

Here’s some more official words on the plot: “Season two follows Carmy, Sydney and Richie as they work to transform their grimy sandwich joint into a next-level spot. As they strip the restaurant down to its bones, the crew undertakes transformational journeys of their own, each forced to confront the past and reckon with who they want to be in the future. Of course, it turns out the only thing harder than running a restaurant is opening a new one, and the team must juggle the insane bureaucracy of permits and contractors with the beauty and creative agony of menu planning. The transition brings a newfound focus on hospitality as well. As the entire staff is forced to come together in new ways, pushing the boundaries of their abilities and relationships, they also learn what it means to be in service, both to diners and each other.”

While The Bear will be available for US viewers on June 22, UK will have to wait until July 19 to watch it. Hey, good things are worth waiting for!
