The Metropolitan police have taken to Twitter to get help in tracking down Wiley, after the rapper failed to appear in court six months ago.

Wiley, whose real name is Richard Kylea Cowie Jr, was due to face charges for burglary and assault at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 11th November, however he never appeared.

Six months on, the Met Police are ramping up their investigation. They say Cowie, who in 2018 was awarded an MBE for services to music, was last seen in Tower Hamlets and still “frequents” the East London borough, as well as nearby Newham.

The burglary and assault charges relate to an incident on August 28th last year, where Wiley is said to have broken into a flat in Forest Gate, East London, and assaulted former kick boxer Ali Jacko. Cowie used Mr Jacko’s recording studio before the pandemic, but is accused of smashing plates and attacking him after breaking in late last summer.

He was due before Thames Magistrates’ Court in September, but failed to appear. The district judge issued a warrant to arrest and bring Mr Cowie to court, and that hearing was due to take place after Wiley was granted an adjournment to allow more time to apply for legal aid and speak to his lawyers.
