As reported by The Sun, a new documentary about the life and career of Robbie Williams is in the works. The project will be produced by the same production company that did Liam Gallagher’s 2019 documentary As It Was.
“Robbie is one of the most entertaining men in music and the documentary will be hilarious and heart- felt in equal measure. He has been through a hell of a lot and battled lots of demons in his personal life,” a source told The Sun about the documentary.
Apparently the documentary has been secretly filming for a few months now, while Williams has also been working on the fictional feature film adaptation of his life.

Titled Better Man after one of Williams’ songs, the film is currently filming in Australia and is directed by The Greatest Showman -director Michael Gracey. Williams is set to appear in the film alongside Alison Steadman, Damon Herriman and Steve Pemberton.
Gracey spoke to Deadline about the film, stating “Unlike some people who were born prodigies or musical geniuses and you follow the narrative of the world catching up to their brilliance, this isn’t that story.”
“Robbie is that Everyman, who just dreamed big and followed those dreams and they took him to an incredible place. Because of that, his is an incredibly relatable story,” Gracey elaborated.
Williams first found fame in 1990 as one of the members of Take That but launched his solo career in 1996 after his frequent drug and alcohol abuse became a problem within the band.
This isn’t the first time Williams has agreed to a documentary about himself. Nobody Someday was released 20 years ago and was directed by Brian Hill. There’s currently no official word on when or where the new documentary would premiere, but we’ll keep you updated when we know more.
