London’s indie rockers Balancing Act are back with a fresh single, ‘Under The Table’, the third track from their upcoming EP Tightropes and Limericks, landing on 4th October.
This one’s a bit of a curveball — ditching their usual high-energy vibe for a slower, bass-heavy groove. Guitarist Jackson Couzens puts it best: “The beauty of releasing a body of work is that you can explore more corners of your creativity, and ‘Under The Table’ feels like just that. It’s heavily trip-hop inspired, but we still bring it back home with a mean guitar riff in the middle. It’s always been a live favourite because of the heavy dynamics — it’s a moment in our set to really let loose.”

The track’s video, directed by Max dos Santos, has the band pulling off a high-stakes heist with all the twists and turns you’d expect from a proper crime flick. Santos describes it as “filled with clever plot twists, quick cuts, and tense moments, as the band manoeuvres through the chaotic underworld with unexpected betrayals and turns at every corner.” If you’re into movies like Snatch, you’ll love this new video.
Balancing Act’s new EP, Tightropes and Limericks, is shaping up to be a banger, packed with festival anthems and plenty of ambition. Recorded across multiple studios—some sessions in France, others in Cheshire, and a few in London—the band’s clearly aiming high. As they say, “[The EP is] announcing the next chapter of the band. We know what Balancing Act is and where it can go; this body of work is another teaser of what that could be. We’re tighter than ever and far more sure of ourselves—we’re ready to shift up another gear.”
