Brighton will come alive with the sound of psychedelic music as the inaugural Brighton Psych Fest kicks off on the 30th August. Celebrated comedian and music enthusiast Stewart Lee will curate a unique stage at the event, marking his return to festival programming after an eight-year hiatus.

The festival is organised by Joy Concerts and the teams behind Manchester and Edinburgh Psych Fests, promising a packed lineup featuring top names like The Horrors, Holly Macve, and Scaler, as well as emerging talents like Molly Payton and Divorce. Performances will be spread across several renowned venues in Brighton.

Lee, known for his incisive wit and deep love of music, has handpicked five acts for his stage at Komedia. “Brighton Psych Fest asked me to host and program a stage, which is reckless of them as the last thing I curated, the 2016 Prestatyn All Tomorrow’s Parties, went bust. And no, I didn’t get paid either. Nonetheless, here’s a mind-melting day out of acid-hued action from five of my favourite acts, with minimal onstage interruptions from me,” Lee stated. He aims to highlight local talent from Brighton and Hastings, adding, “sometimes we don’t always acknowledge the geniuses on our own doorsteps.”

The eclectic acts selected by Lee include The Bevis Frond, The Physics House Band, Alison Cotton, Eliza Skelton, and Secluded Bronte. Each artist brings a unique flavour to the festival, ranging from underground legends and psychedelic folk to experimental and improvisatory performances.

Brighton Psych Fest tickets are available now, promising a day of unparalleled musical diversity and innovation.
