The sizeable twenty three-track album is set for release on 27 October via XL Recordings and builds on the rapper, producer and director’s dystopian, futurist worldbuilding he’s been establishing since he first emerged on the scene in 2013. Since then, he’s been something of an enigmatic figure, donning various masks and largely rejecting media attention – much of which, coupled with the release of some much-loved tracks, has only served to increase the intrigue around him. Famous Last Words is the product of a number of collaborations, including with Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant, Connie Constance, Kamio and Desire; Stranger Things composer Kyle Dixon and Italians Do It Better label founder Johnny Jewel, meanwhile, have helmed production. Today’s album announcement has been heralded by the release of smooth and expansive new single ‘Matte Grey Wrap’. Have a listen to the rather beautiful new tune via the audio visualiser above. ‘Matte Grey Wrap’ is the first taste of a record that’s been billed as taking the listener on an underground journey narrated by CASISDEAD – “where he is the main character in a shady network of gangsters, girls and drug deals,” the album announcement details.

“However, Famous Last Words isn’t a story of bravado or posturing; much of the album deals in themes of loss, regret and paranoia, a persona constantly self-reflecting amongst the madness that surrounds him.” As well as the languorous new single, CASISDEAD’s album announcement has arrived with news of his biggest headline show to date, taking place on 2 November at London’s Koko.
