Elkka collaborates with John Caroll Kirby for sensual track ‘Passionfruit’

Cardiff-born DJ Elkka releases 'Passionfruit', a nine-minute instrumental featuring John Caroll Kirby, exploring sensuality and identity in electronic music.

Welsh sensation Elkka has just dropped a brand new single titled ‘Passionfruit’, out now via Ninja Tune.

‘Passionfruit’ features celebrated pianist and composer John Caroll Kirby, known for his work with the likes of Frank Ocean and Harry Styles. It’s a nine-minute instrumental odyssey that transports listeners into a world of non-verbal communication.

Elkka describes the track as the embodiment of taking time with someone, exploring each other in a deeply intimate way. “When I think about women and sensuality… this is what melts me,” she explains.

Growing up in South Wales with very few queer people around, Elkka pieced together her identity slowly, finding herself after moving to London and immersing herself in the city’s vibrant DJ scene.

Her’s is a career brimming with releases and accolades. She’s known for her deep intuition, which has led her to success in London’s underground music scene and beyond. Her talent was spotlighted when she was awarded BBC’s Essential Mix of the Year in 2021, highlighting her unique cocktail of house, breakbeat, and experimental electronica.

She’s also the brain behind her own record label, femme culture, and has been running queer club nights off the back of that, making her a pivotal figure in the LGBTQ+ dance community. With performances at intimate spaces and queer parties like Panorama Bar and FEEL IT, Elkka is a force to be reckoned with.

Now, fans are eagerly anticipating this debut album, set to release in 2024. Meanwhile, her tour is in full swing, with dates across Europe, including her biggest headline show at London’s Electric Brixton on 25th April.
