DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story has been Netflix’s surprise hit this year. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the show is slowly but surely edging towards one billion hours streamed on the streaming giant’s service. Creator and producer Ryan Murphy joined stars Evan Peters, Richard Jenkins and Niecy Nash in a conversation about the show. Peters admitted being “terrified to take on the role”. He also spoke of attaching weights to his arms to practice and capture Dahmer’s distinct physique and walk. He also donned the killer’s wardrobe and shoes for months while preparing for the role. “Doing the role, I wanted to give it 120 percent the whole way through, so I brought in a lot of darkness and negativity,” Peters said of the massive undertaking of playing one of the most recognised serial killers. “It was just having that end goal in sight, knowing when we were going to wrap and finally being able to breathe and let it go and say, ‘OK, now it’s time to bring in the joy and the lightness and watch comedies and romances and go back to St. Louis and see my family and friends and yeah, watch Step Brothers.'” Dahmer has come under fire from the relatives of Dahmer’s victims. Dahmer murdered 17 men between 1978 and 1991 before being caught. Murphy addressed the controversy earlier last week by stating that the production had indeed got in contact with the families but received no response.
