Gia Ford is back with a brand-new single, ‘Try Changing,’ giving us a taste of her upcoming debut album, Transparent Things, out 13th September via Chrysalis Records. The track dives into the ups and downs of parent-child relationships, full of Gia’s signature introspective lyrics and dreamy melodies.
Gia sums it up perfectly: “‘Try Changing’ is about wanting your parents to be happy. They teach you how to live your life but then don’t always follow their own advice. It’s also about how we share wisdom with older folks in our lives, and how we all help keep each other grounded, no matter the generation.”
Transparent Things promises to be an album like no other, with themes of alienation and quirky outcasts at its core. Gia explains, “The characters in these songs are all on the fringe, each in their own way. It’s got a mythical vibe, with lots of references to creatures, ghosts, and spirits. It’s a world I didn’t even know was possible.”
To celebrate the album, Gia’s hitting the road for some acoustic in-store shows across the UK in September. Expect intimate performances and a chance to hear the new tracks live before anyone else. The tour kicks off on 13th September at Rough Trade West in London, with stops in Leeds, Bristol, Liverpool, and Kingston.
And if that’s not enough, Gia’s also up for an AIM Independent Music Award for ‘Best Independent Video’ with her last single, ‘Poolside’. Clearly, she’s an artist on the rise, catching the attention of everyone from Sir Elton John to NME. Keep an eye out – Gia Ford is just getting started.
