Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, the latest album from Lewis Capaldi, is outselling the rest of the Top 20 combined on the Official Charts

The success of Capaldi’s second record inevitably means it’s easily on course to bag the Scot his second Number 1 album.

More impressively, it could also overtake Ed Sheeran’s recent Subtract (–) album in being the fastest-selling LP so far this year.

The release of Capaldi’s sophomore album followed a strong degree of success in the run-up to its release, with singles ‘Forget Me’, ‘Pointless’ and ‘Wish You The Best’ all securing UK Number 1 spots.

This means Broken By Desire is now even able to compete with the remarkable success of the record-breaking success of his debut album, 2019’s Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent.

Pre-empting the almost inevitable commercial success of Capaldi’s latest album, we wrote in our three-star review that whilst it’s anodyne in many parts, “the Scot won’t likely give two shites about any negativity.”

Yes, the Netflix documentary [Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now] shows a star bearing the burden of expectation – and is a reminder that we all struggle – but Lewis Capaldi thrives off turning any criticism to his advantage. This album will almost certainly do well, it just sounds a little soppy.

I’ve listened to Heavenly Kind State Of Mind and I couldn’t tell any difference from any other songs of his I know.
I guess that’s the key to his success (cheers to that!), but I’m not listening to this album because I already know there’s nothing new to listen to.
