According to Deadline, Netflix has ordered two more seasons of Monster as well as renewed The Watcher for a second season.

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story has been a huge success for the streamer. The fictionalised drama is on track to reach 1 billion hours streamed in the new few weeks.

Evan Peters recently spoke about his reluctance to accept the role at first, but his performance has been lauded by many.

The series has also been on the receiving end of some backlash after the real Dahmer’s victims’ families said they had not been consulted and that the series is forcing them to relive the trauma.

Creator Ryan Murphy, who is behind both Dahmer and The Watcher, responded that his team had contacted several relatives of the victims to consult, but had not received any replies back.

Of the renewal, Bela Bajaria, Head of Global TV, Netflix, said: “Audiences can’t take their eyes off Monster and The Watcher. The creative team of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan on Monster along with Eric Newman on The Watcher are masterful storytellers who captivated audiences all over the world. The back-to-back force of these two series is due to Ryan’s distinct original voice which created cultural sensations and we are thrilled to continue telling stories in the Monster and Watcher universes.”

It’s not yet known what the next two seasons of Monster will cover, but Netflix confirmed the series would continue to “tell the stories of other monstrous figures who have impacted society”.
