London-based trio Honeyglaze are back with their latest track ‘Cold Caller’, gifting us another taste of their upcoming album Real Deal, set for release on 20th September via Fat Possum. The band also revealed a series of UK in-store performances to promote the album.
Following the intensity of their previous single, ‘Don’t’, ‘Cold Caller’ takes a more measured approach. It begins with a calming vocal from Anouska Sokolow, slowly building in emotion as it delves into themes of isolation and the search for connection. Sokolow’s vocals become increasingly emotional, mirroring the lyrical protagonist’s loneliness and yearning for interaction, even with a cold caller.
Honeyglaze explains, “It’s funny, because it’s a complete dynamic reversal: the last person you’d usually want attention from is a cold caller. Can you imagine how lonely someone must feel if you aren’t getting enough from them? Wishful thinking and delusion determine your reality more than you’d think.”
It’s a song song that showcases the band’s evolving songwriting skills, mixing fact and fiction seamlessly. With its introspective lyrics and rich melodies, ‘Cold Caller’ is a clear indicator of the growth Honeyglaze has undergone since their debut.
In support of Real Deal, Honeyglaze will be performing at several instores across the UK in September. The schedule includes stops in London, Nottingham, Bristol, and Leeds, preceding a full UK tour in November and December.
