Liverpool’s Pixey has unveiled her latest single, ‘Bring Back The Beat,’ a preview of her debut album Million Dollar Baby, set for release on 2nd August via Chess Club Records. Co-produced with Jungle’s Tom McFarland, the track blends pop with a northern soul-inspired horn sample.
Pixey describes the song as “a call to move and feel the music.” Tickets for her headline tour are on sale, including London’s Lower Third on 25th September and Liverpool’s Arts Club on 28th September. She will also debut at Glastonbury this month on the BBC Introducing stage.
Million Dollar Baby was crafted over a year and a half between her Liverpool bedroom and London studios, blending 90s breakbeats with modern pop. Pixey explains, “This album is the final form of years of trying to prove myself. It’s the story of navigating the perception of myself through the male gaze, whilst also trying to take some power back and form my truest identity.”
Pixey’s career has been marked by accolades from The Times, The Telegraph, and BBC Radio 1, among others. Her music has garnered over 15 million streams, and her single ‘Just Move’ was used in Liverpool FC’s home kit launch.
