Australian alt-pop quartet Rum Jungle have just dropped their latest single, ‘Chauffeur’, premiering on triple J. Known for their sun-soaked melodies and infectious energy, the band continues to carve out their unique space in the music scene with this catchy, bass-driven track.
Vocalist and lyricist Benny shared some behind-the-scenes insights about the creation of ‘Chauffeur’, saying, “Listening back to the very original voice memo, the first verse actually ended up being heaps close to what I mumbled over the out-of-tune chords the first time it was ever played. Which is sick. Sometimes a track just falls out of thin air into your hands when you’re chasing it the most.” This quote underscores the organic and spontaneous process that often drives Rum Jungle’s creative journey.
‘Chauffeur’ is a confident anthem about self-discovery and trusting the journey of finding oneself. It is complemented by the B-side ‘Move to Cali’, which tells the story of a dreamer enticed by the myth of California’s elusive success.
The band’s latest EP, Hold Me In The Water, climbed to #3 on the ARIA Vinyl Album Charts and #12 on the ARIA Australian Album Charts, while their single ‘Dash Of Speed’ made it into triple j’s hottest 200 of 2023.
