Unknown T announces debut album ‘Blood Diamond’

Unknown T has announced his debut album Blood Diamond via a cinematic new trailer.

Unknown T

The 24-year-old’s first full-length project is set to arrive in January, although a specific date is yet to be given.

It arrives after a string of singles and mixtapes that have established Unknown T (real name Daniel Richie Lena) as a potent force in UK rap, grime and drill, with his distinctive low voice and poetic account of life in London.

Blood Diamond has been named after the 2006 political action thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Djimon Hounsou, and has been heralded by a trailer starring British-Nigerian designer and artist Olaolu Slawn (playing a younger Unknown T) that also takes inspiration from the film – have a watch below.

Not much has been given away about the album yet, but it’s been billed as “a vivid journey into [Unknown T’s] mind, spirit and history, illuminating on trials, traumas and triumphs he has met along the way.”

It will no doubt see him build on the successes garnered from his debut mixtape, 2020’s Rise Above Hate, and its follow-up, 2021’s Adolescence, as well as his popular ‘Homerton B’ single – the first UK drill song to be certified Silver by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).

And to get into album launch mode, Unknown T is set to play Camden’s storied Koko tomorrow night, Wednesday 22 November – see here to buy the final tickets.
