Electronic music icon Moby is set to embark on his first European tour in over a decade, celebrating the 25th anniversary of his seminal album Play. The tour, announced today, will span several key cities, including The O2 in London.

Released in 1999, Play garnered critical acclaim and achieved monumental success, selling over 12 million copies worldwide and becoming the best-selling electronic album ever. The tour will pay homage to this iconic record and include fan favourites from Moby’s extensive catalogue.

Reflecting on the upcoming tour, Moby said, “It’s been over 10 years since I’ve toured, but someone reminded me that 2024 is the 25th anniversary of the release of Play, so it seemed like it might not be the worst idea to do a short European tour to commemorate and celebrate.”

Further highlighting the tour’s altruistic nature, Moby revealed that he would not be taking any profits from the shows. “What makes the tour most exciting for me is that I won’t be paid anything. 100 per cent of my profits will go to European animal rights organisations,” he stated.

The tour will kick off with a show at The O2 in London on September 19, 2024, before moving on to performances in Antwerp, Berlin, Düsseldorf, and Paris. Tickets for the tour go on general sale this Friday, with a pre-sale starting tomorrow.

In addition to the tour announcement, Moby also shared details about his upcoming collaborative album, Always Centred At Night, due for release on June 14. The album features diverse collaborators, including the late Benjamin Zephaniah and Serpentwithfeet.

Moby’s commitment to animal rights and punk rock’s role in the movement were recently highlighted in his documentary film, Punk Rock Vegan Movie. The film showcases interviews with punk legends and explores the link between punk rock and activism.
