Rachel Chinouriri has just dropped her laest single, ‘What A Devastating Turn Of Events,’ (listen here) setting the stage for her much-anticipated debut album of the same name (pre-order or pre-save here). Slated for release on May 3, 2024, through Parlophone/Atlas Artists, the song takes us deeper into Rachel’s ability to craft songs that hit close to home, drawing from personal and poignant life moments.
The single tells a raw and real story of loss within Rachelโs family, standing apart from the album’s earlier releases like ‘Never Need Me’ and ‘The Hills.’ Influenced by musical icons of the noughties, such as Lily Allen and Kate Nash, Rachel combines her unique storytelling with a fresh, nostalgic sound.
Rachel opens up about the track: “This song is one of my saddest but proudest achievements. Itโs personal and based around a true story…Itโs sad she ever made this choice. Her story deserves to be told, and I hope more people know that this is a feeling many people have felt, and you should always ask for help.โ
As Rachel prepares for her largest headline show yet at Londonโs KOKO on March 6th, which is already sold out, she also looks forward to touching new heights in the US with debut shows in New York, LA, and a special appearance at Texas’ SXSW festival.
